hawaii part II
something didn't happen in hawaii that i'm still a little disappointed over.
i didn't get much of a tan.
put me on those beaches ten years ago and i would have been a golden goddess by the time we got back on the plane to go home {yes, a goddess}. ten years ago, if i were in hawaii i would have done one thing and one thing only and that is lay out.
but now, as an old woman with three kids, i can count on two fingers the number of times i actually laid down, on a beach towel and closed my eyes. one of those times may be more appropriately referred to as passing out so it might not count.
out of the seven days we were there, we really only spent about three days on the beach. kind of a bummer but more important things required our attention and on one particular day the tide was so high on every beach we went to, there was no way i was going to let their little toes in the sand at all.
the ocean terrifies me. it's relentless. the island shuts down around 7:30, everything goes dark, there aren't any street lights and as we drove from one hotel to another, all i could see was the waves crashing still. it was super creepy in a spectacular way. spectacular from the safety of our car. i'm a big wimp, i know.
of our trips to the beach there are a few photos and when my mom returns i'll be taking some more off of her camera and add them here because they were super cute {oh, have i mentioned she still there just island hopping without a care in the world?}. for now, here's what i took.
