hello shadow

honestly, one of my most favorite things about summer is going for walks after dinner.   i love it, the kids love it, jake doesn't complain so, we go as often as possible and tonight was no exception.  this post is about our walk tonight.

i have a lot of other things i want to blog about (like how i took a shower at my mom's yesterday because she let the kids hang out with her while i went for a run and this shower was like heaven for me.  real water pressure, soft water, hair lathered with biolage shampoo {sigh} and then! ... then i sprayed some for-real pureology anti-fade complex throughout my sad head of hair.  all these luxuries i've been missing.  oh, and let's not forget about the towels that ALWAYS smell so fresh and feel so soft. there's no place like home.  simply luxurious.  my hair was happy.  i just know it.) but, since tonight is fresh in my mind and i just finished blogging about our dinner (which was yummy), i'll keep the flow going with a "tonight" theme because i'm really not feeling all that creative and that shower deserves some serious creativity.

our walk.

first, the best farmer tan and cutest toddler on the block (don't hate).

jake asked him if he sun was in his eyes as he was covering his face with his hands.  we hit a patch of shade and he said "that's budder."

cayd and brooke ride their bikes like a bunch of pros.  we have a few favorite routes that they're familiar with but they still always stop at the end of each street before going on without us.  they're good kids.

we headed toward the park to let the kids play for a bit.  gavin wanted to get out a few short steps before we arrived to walk rather than ride.

he hears a dog bark and it makes him nervous.

he sees his shadow

he turns around to show it to me and is confused because it's gone. where did it go?

there it is

wave and say "hello shadow"

on our walk, gavin met his shadow.

i took a picture of our legs as we sat and watched the kids play.  i don't know why.  brooklyn posed after coming down the slide because that is what she does when she sees the camera.

the kids teach gavin to say "neener, neener, neener."  instead, he says ....... use your imagination.

the end

What a perfect family night! It reminds me of going on walks with my parents and younger brother when I was little! I was smiling the whole time I read this! :)
