committed
my blog is lame lately. i know this and i'm sorry. i'm committed, right now, to fixing the lameness by explaining the reasons for the lameness. two solid explanations (maybe three).
first, jake started a new job. he just finished his second week. cool? yes. a lot of things have changed ... are changing. he needed all new work clothes after we realized everything he wore to work was plastered with the name of his prior employer. he needed transportation and a new cell phone because one of the two (and possibly only) perks to working for said prior employer was the company vehicle and cell phone. he has to wear a hard hat (hot) and a reflective vest on some days (even hotter). we don't have health insurance until january and after trying to complete the paperwork for the new insurance, i've realized i have misplaced my children's social security cards.
he has a big test coming up which is a huge reason for why all these difficult changes are worth it. the potential for higher pay once he passes his commercial journeyman's test is substantial. and, because he's worked as a residential journeyman for the past 10 years so, he's got a lot of studying to do. the test is expensive. the books are expensive but the pay increase is necessary so it's a must. no pressure babe.
the biggest change though, and the reason for my lame blog is he's suddenly home from work at a normal time and all my routines are out of whack. not that i'd change this change, it's just i have a lot less time to kill with my new found entertainment.
so, we're looking for a quality vehicle for a super low price and social security cards for cayden jacob moore and brooklyn moore. let me know if you come across any of these things.
on to the second (possibly third) reason for the lame blog. two words: gossip girl.

that's right folks, i'm a 29 (28) year old mother of three who cannot stop watching gossip girl. if you've seen it, you'll know why i should be embarrassed. if you haven't seen it, i'm sorry for you.
it all started before we left to hawaii. my mom was kind and took myself, linds and vlada out for a day of pampering and as we were having our toes polished, one of the ladies mentioned gossip girl and vlada's excitement in the conversation made me feel like i was missing out on something spectacular. she assured me i would love it and vlada has great taste so i believed her.
fast forward several weeks later. i'd made an effort and started recording the series on my dvr. i aged significantly the first time i sat down and watched the second episode from season three (i'd already missed the first episode and the first two seasons). all these young, beautiful, over privileged college students running around sabotaging each other, drinking too much and having careless sex made me feel like a frumpy, gray haired, stay at home mom having careful sex with my (legal) partner of nine years. there wasn't a whole lot of commonality.
needless to say, i decided it wasn't my kind of show and moved on to my recordings of the biggest loser and desperate housewives. later in time, lindsay came over and we were bored so we watched the next episode together and she's actually seen the show which was helpful. she was able to shed some light on the characters and the storyline making it just a tad more interesting but i still wasn't sold and had no desire to watch the first season jake had so kindly reserved from the library for me.
but then, on a cold and gloomy day, i became ill and this is reason number three for my lame blog. i was ill for a solid two weeks straight and it was terrible. the kind of ill that makes it tough to move or smile. i was grumpy and ugly and needed some entertainment. oprah and mike tyson just weren't hacking it so i threw in the first disc of season one and well, the rest is history.
since then, i've gone to great lengths to get my hands on the second season without having to spend a lot, or any money. i felt truly blessed when i came across an old blockbuster gift card while looking for the kids social security cards the other day. blockbuster is the only outfit lending the second season out right now unless you subscribe to netflix which is considered a luxury around here. hollywood video isn't cool enough and there are 46 holds for the first disc of season two at the library. i can't wait that long.
that's that. the reasons behind my lame blog and i'm still not done watching season two so don't expect any greatness around here any time soon.
today is halloween so i'd like to wish you a happy one and i'll fill the blog with photos from our holiday as soon as i feel like it. for now, enjoy the photo jake took of me last night as we drove through arctic circle for my third pumpkin shake this season. yum. what is even more embarrassing than this photo is the series he took of my behind while we walked around the carnival at his mothers school last night. pervert.
happy halloween everyone!
