father's day recap

i ordered jake this shirt for father's day like two weeks ago. i was really excited to give it to him so i'm really sad it hasn't come yet.  i'm even more sad over the fact that the company hasn't replied to any of my emails even though they've accepted my paypal payment.  hopefully, it's just a matter of delay and not thievery.

yesterday was nice (i think).

we ate challah french toast for breakfast on the back patio.

jake organized his man stuff after he opened his new big box of tools. he loves organizing his man stuff.  i have no idea what was in the big box besides a saw without a blade, a drill and something that looked like a fancy flashlight.  apparently, it was a really good deal.  i wouldn't know because i didn't buy it.  he was in need of said tools and found this great price a couple of weeks ago.  i told him to make the purchase but it would be a father's day gift.  he was excited when he brought it home and set it on the table.  unfortunately, he still had a job to attend to so he left the house again without getting the chance to admire the new toys.  while he was gone, i quickly wrapped the box up and tied it with a bow.   there was only a small amount of dissapointment on his face when he returned home later that night.  fathers day wasn't for two more weeks.  what did he expect?

anyway, during the day i gave myself a much needed pedicure using my new pedi egg which worked splendidly. thanks kalisa!

in the evening we went and visited with my family.  i tried to make dinner for my dad.  he's hard to cook for.

it was grilled chicken with homemade barbecue sauce, a recipe from my women's health magazine that was good but, didn't taste much like barbecue sauce to me.  oven fries, and this delicious salad.

for dessert, i had made some chocolate chip mint ice cream.  the process was long and the recipe called for a lot of mint leaves.  turns out, it was too many mint leaves.  everyone ate it but not without acknowledging that they felt like they were sitting in a field of mint while enjoying their dessert.  oh! and these molten chocolate lava cakes.  they are divine.  a generous treat from my neighbor a few days ago was my first taste.  i begged for the recipe and bought some little custard cups so i could make my own.  rich, yummy, warm chocolate.  only problem is i didn't cook them for long enough. next time, i'll add two minutes or so.  even still, they were perfectly edible and delicious.

like i said, i think it was a good day.

my dad's name is jake
my dad is special because he plays tricks on us
i make my dad smile when i listen to him
my dad can do many things.  he is good at electishon
i like when my dad plays catch with me
my dad is handsome as a king
he's as smart as the presadent
he's as tall as his truck
he's as funny as a clown
he's as happy as me
he's as strong as an ox
he's as hungry as me
he's as nice as me

love, cayden

Cayden's poem is the absolute best! He described Jake to a tea. I just know that kid is going to be famous one day.

Grandma Linda loves him to death!

Ok- i was sorta afraid that the shirt picture was actually of jake wearing it. that would mean that he had serious tatoos all over his arms! I personally think that jake could pull that look off very well and look super hunky- but it still is a little over the top for me.
