thirty

today is my big brother's birthday and if i were with him today, on his birthday, the picture might look something like this ... (although i'm much thinner now and travis is much shorter)

my brother is hands down one of the neatest people i have the pleasure of knowing. he knows something about everything. and i mean everything. if ever there were a time i wasn't able to think for myself, i'd want someone to see to it that josh be in charge of thinking for me. josh is humble and he is real.

someone once said to me "your brother is strange ..." and i didn't feel an ounce of defensiveness and i don't think he would either. it is his strangeness that i love so much about him ... that he's unlike most other people, he sees things with a clarity that i try and attempt but that is difficult for me to completely understand. if only i could be so strange and less typical.

sometimes he's a pain in the butt. about weird things too. he silently fights getting his picture taken or exchanging gifts when it really is appropriate. his spontaneity does not compliment my constant need for order and planning but he keeps things interesting and i always look forward to time spent together.

joshua, i hope that you're enjoying your voyage and that you'll bring me back something super.
