kindergarten grad
{brooklyn with her kindergarten teacher mrs. tipton}
brooklyn has been a busy girl lately.
she's officially done with kindergarten and moving on to the big time, all day school. the end of her school year was topped off with the kindergarten program/fashion show. i attempted to record her fashion show portion of the program while also taking pictures so her dad could see and, i recorded her class singing "i like being me" which is my favorite kid song. camera action is a bit bouncy but to me, it's special stuff.
the idea behind the fashion show is that the kids pick their favorite dress up outfit and then the teacher reads a detailed description while they move back and forth on the stage. and outfit that shows their interests and then they get to tell their favorite food and their favorite book.
brooklyn wanted to dress in her regular clothes. i tried to push other ideas but, she wasn't having it. she felt pretty awesome with glitter in her hair and i let her wear my big hoop earrings.
{her favorite food is pasta salad and her favorite book is "lady bug girl"}
{gavin really wanted to be in this picture with grandma}
i came across these little teacher gifts on pinterest and i thought they looked inexpensive and cute. score!
i found the cups at harmons for $5.00 and then just filled them with lemon heads and lemonade packets. she was excited to give her teacher a gift. cayden was embarrassed. totally normal, right?
in other news, we went to get our hair cut and she begged for a strand of pink hair. since it's summer break and i'm obviously a push-over, i let her pick a hot pink strand and a hot pink feather. she really thought she was something else. it was supposed to stay in for 3 months but it lasted maybe a week.
one night on my way to yoga jake sent me a text, "hair thing fell out. the world has ended." haha. she's also a drama queen.
later that evening she broke out in a horrible rash all over her body. turns out she'd broken out in hives because of strep throat. weird that her throat didn't hurt at all. she was miserable for a few days. benadryl was the only medication that gave her any relief. she was prescribed prednisone too which made her face swell. it was so sad!
this last week was her first week back to tumbling after a mini break. she's in an official class now. we were so excited to learn that my friend kalisa's daughter is in her class too. brooklyn just loves her friend sage and she's looking forward to learning more, progressing and getting stronger.
her little friend from school goes to the same gym and is seriously talented. we went to see her in a cinderella ballet recently and she had a solo right before the production. the girl was flipping all of the stage. completely nuts to me! i have no doubt that brooklyn will get there. she is a very hard worker and extremely determined.
here we are at the ballet.
and here she is with her cute friend cierra.
they are quite the pair. i call them little diva's.
now i just have to make it through the next six weeks before first grade starts with as few whiney, "i'm bored"-s as possible.
wish me luck.

and i love you.
oh, and i wish we lived close. ivy and brooklyn would be little diva friends and we could hang. oh, to dream is fun.
that's all for now:)
