herriman days
herriman days happened a couple of weekends ago. it was a really fun weekend. we went to the parade and to the carnival. we enjoyed our first backyard barbecue, visited frogurt for some yogurt and watched the fire works from the back porch.
i'm pretty sure i was super annoying to all of the other parade goers as i egged the kids on to do more hooting and hollering for candy. "wave! make a scene!" i'm telling you, it works. people throw candy at you when you act like you really, really want the candy.
"we love physical therapy!"
herriman days produces some interesting floats. the dump? yep.
the rock climbing trucks were super cool though and so was the clown on the bike. brooklyn loved the "princesses."
later in the day, we went over to the carnival. talk about a rip off! they want $20 per kid for unlimited riding of the crappiest rides you've ever seen. call me negative nelly if you wish, i don't mind.
we let the kids have 10 tickets each. it took all of 30 minutes to spend them.
baby nephew came along too. he brought his mom and dad with him and he was cute as always riding the rides.
gavin really wanted to ride the pony so three of his tickets went to a horse whose name i forget. he looks so serious but it was the highlight of his day.
cayd showing off his noise makers.
sissy braves the rickety swings.
the herriman high school cheerleaders painted a flower on her cheek.
this was the highlight of her day. so cool!
after the carnival nat and i made dinner for the troops. it was so delicious. i'm telling you! recipes here.
we sat in the sun and enjoyed ourselves. sometimes it's fun being grown ups. especially when you get to hang out with other grown ups. i forget what that feels like at times.
after dinner we went over to frogurt for a treat and then let the kids stay up way past bed time so they could catch the fireworks. we've watched the fireworks from our back porch for as long as i can remember. it's something i think we all look forward to.
while waiting for the fireworks they played with their new light sabers from the carnival.
this was a great way to kick off our summer!

I like how Gavin is the baby brother in some pics and then "big brother" to his little cousin in others.
