living with children
in the spirit of random posting.
this is a poor quality photograph of the bathmat outside of our shower door on any given day. the fact that the toys are on the bathmat means they're not in the shower so, i suppose this is progress in the right direction.
someone put dispensed hand soap into the squirt bottle.
another person unlaced my running shoe for fun.
someone used bandaids from the first aid kit to decorate the windows of the car.
some child dumped hot candle wax into the toilet bowl.
another person "accidentally" reprogrammed my garmin watch.
the keys are always locked in the car at the worst times.
someone helped themselves to a popsicle and left the freezer door open in the hot garage.
another person used a safety pin to poke holes in the toothpaste tube.
one person can never find his other shoe.
some child wipes their boogers on the walls and never flushes the toilet.
i dare you to search for something between the couch cushions.
some person ate all of the gum out of the pack purchased yesterday even though it was hidden in my purse.
another person ate the chapstick.
one person spills their milk at least once a day.
another person always leaves the garage door open so the dog can escape.
finally, it's bed time.
we take a pill to fall asleep,
crawl in bed and find a toy under the pillow and crumbs on the sheets.
husband can't find his wrist brace, someone thought it was a toy.
drift off to sleep to wake suddenly at the sound of the someone above us who just fell out of her bed.
know she'll get back in bed on her own.
fall back asleep.
6 or 7 hours later, at the top of his lungs "mom!" ... "mom!" ... "momma!" ... "mom!!!!"
and we start all over again.
despite these minor annoyances and the fact that i really enjoy a mess-free environment, somehow i can't imagine this home without children.
i'm grateful today that my sweet nephew is home now getting well from the surgery on his little heart. i'm quite excited that he'll grow up with my children learning how to terrorize his parents from the best.
what a beautiful day!
