it's a word. a word to describe me.
my mind is elsewhere. i'm distracted, thinking too much about the little nine pound person who is my nephew.
top news; baby came. he was born on wednesday and i feel very confident that he's someone i'm going to want to spend a lot of time getting to know. he is absolutely, perfectly precious. one of those people you want to eat up. you know what i mean? see for yourself.
teasin' he's not mine to share so i'm not going to share him with you but you can tell by the look on my face that he is indeed, someone very special.
this eventful day was the highlight of the week but the weekend included a highlight of it's own which is my second successful 1/2 marathon attempt. i'd signed up for the salt lake 1/2 marathon with the thought that it would be great practice for the big sh'bang in june. my thinking was right on, it was definitely another great practice run where i learned a lot. this includes realizing immodium is a godsend and i shall consume it from now on before every race and, running while dehydrated is not very fun. i ran this race a full minute slower than the riverton 1/2 marathon and this was very discouraging. the course was mostly downhill and was supposed to be easier. i thought i was adequately prepared but clearly, i was wrong. note to self: eating and drinking the morning of a race is very important.
here i am crossing the finish line. trying to slap five with jake but he was making a celebratory fist and it didn't quite work out the way it should have. oh well. i was just happy my family took the time to fight the crowds for my 15 seconds of fame.
of course, i'm glad that i ran and i'm proud that i finished but mostly, my excitement for the day came from seeing my uncle brad cross the finish line just minutes after i did. he's been training hard, taking care of his body and his effort paid off in a major way. i was way happy for him and if i might say, proud too.
the rest of the week was filled with baseball. cayden's loving it this year. see how adorable he is in his little uniform! so official looking. number two. as long as the sun is shining, i really enjoy baseball and am looking forward to a great season.
anyway, that's really all for now. my marathon training is going well. (in case you care to know). jon and i fought through 16 miles yesterday like two for-real rock stars. with every long run i feel stronger and stronger. hopefully this trend continues so i'll be ready come june. the nerves are starting to settle in!

answer: YES! i have bladder issues. this was the ONE thing that really had me nervous about committing to long distance running. with a lot of practice and a few accidents here and there (lol), i think i've finally figured out what works and what doesn't to avoid this little problem as much as possible. one of the many things i love about running is the more you run, the stronger EVERY muscle gets so it's becoming less and less of a problem. now i'm dealing with the other end lol ... like i said, thankful for immodium. tmi.
toodles!
p.s. a little pee never hurt anyone and i've learned it's not uncommon for women who run at all.
love
