and so it goes
i promised (well, sort of) a post about our weekend (which was fun). i'm going to admit that i put gavin down for a nap one hour ago and he's still not asleep but he's not crying either. i should go get him, right?
today has been about healing. healing my injured back by performing interesting push and pull exercises with my knees and sitting on an exercise ball while i type. my back has been out since last thursday, it's been nearly a week since i've last exercised and i'm going crazy. who would have ever thought i would go crazy by NOT being able to exercise? i just love it. i love the way i feel during even when i have to push myself through and i especially love the way i feel after. i blame my slow healing on a poor decision to take the hike on saturday. i felt okay as we went up the mountain and not-so-great as we went down. as a result, i am still hurting but just barely. i can just tell tomorrow i'll be like new. oh how i hope.
so anyway, back to our weekend which was great. jake and i were lucky enough to get away with jon and natalie two nights in a row and then joined up with them and the rest of the family on saturday too. i don't think they got bored with us either.
on thursday, linda came out to watch the kids so we could go listen in on jenny lewis and bon iver performing at the gallivan center. this is one of a few "twilight" concerts we'll be attending this summer. partly because we love the artists that are being featured each and every week but mostly because they're FREE! despite my aching back, it was a good time and i especially loved the crepe we enjoyed for dinner (for sarah c. ... it was served hot with goat cheese, sliced tomato, fresh spinach and red onions and i think you would have loved it too).
friday we took another night off from these beautiful children of ours. craig and linda took cayd and brooke up to the cabin for a sleepover and my wonderful mother took gavin for the night. we met up with jon and nat at the movies to see the proposal which i liked quiet well.
of these two events i have no photos. but, i have several to share from our little excursions on saturday up to silver lake and up to the mine. i stole a couple from linda's blog but she won't mind. gavin is absent. he's not much of a hiker yet.
