top ten 2008

is it too late to post this? we're still in january, for at least another hour and a half anyway. i've been thinking a little lately about what i hope my children will take away from their childhood with us as their parents. i do not want to spend any minute of my life or any minute of their lives wishing they were anything more or anything less than who they are as individuals. my sincere hope is that they will simply find happiness and live purposeful lives according to their own plan with the knowledge that we are merely here as assistants to show them that life is full of possibilities.

but that doesn't mean i don't have an inkling of hope that our influence will rub on off them, just a little, especially when it comes to music. it is a rare occurrence for some sort of music to not be playing in our home and i imagine this might be something our children will eventually remember. much like a football or basketball game in the background for me as a child. so, i had a thought. i thought it might be neat to ask my dear husband to come up with a "top ten" album list for 2008 (with me in mind of course). our favorite and most enjoyed albums of the year so that one day, the children might look back and be taken back in time. i suppose much like the 2008 theme music for my journal to them.

i thought the request would be a fun little side project for my dear husband. if you don't know already, he has a slight interest in music. our office is stacked with cd's. our bathroom drawers, cupboards and book shelves stacked with hundreds of old issues of music related reading material and he has a running list of albums yet to be purchased that will always be found in his wallet. what i failed to realize (or remember) is that he has a slight interest in a lot of music and he has a tenancy to be a little bit obsessive about it too so he took the request very seriously and put a list together with me in mind.

so, without further ado and in no particular order, here is our {my} top ten albums from 2008 (and just maybe, you might take an opportunity to freshen up your ipod a little compliments of my sweethearts ear. i assure you, you won't be disappointed):
