cayden

my boy doesn't like it when i blog about him.  "are you going to put that on your blog?"

because he doesn't like it when i blog about him, he also doesn't like to have his photo taken.  it's a challenge.

he has an image to keep.  i think it's the "i'm the biggest pain in the butt in the entire world" image but, i'm not completely sure.  it could also be, "i'll do the opposite of what you tell me to every single time" image or maybe, "i'm the only one in the entire world who knows anything" image.

choose one.  they all work.

the kid rocks my world with his images.  he's cool as hell though.  especially when he wants to be.  he can be very, very sensitive and loving.

i notice when he's having a tough day/moment/week/hour, building and creating is something that calms him.  he's an inventor.

it's really amazing actually.  because he can be tough to reason with when he gets in a mood.  if i can trick him into building, or creating something for an hour or so, it's like a magical drug and he happens to be really talented at free building with legos.  i'm not prejudice either.

recently he made a hotel for snails at school.  his teacher let him bring snails in from recess and then he involved all of the other kids in the creation of this hotel.  she says she lets him do this sort of thing when he's having a tough day.  she says he's taught lessons to the class on things he's studied while they're doing other work.  she's a smart lady to give him more work and additional challenges but the problem with the snail hotel is what happened to the snails once their hotel was dismantled.  why, they came to live at my house, of course i didn't know this until i found them.  in a ziplock baggie. in the top drawer of his nightstand.  did i almost fall over and die?  yes.  i did.

lately he's been super busy with baseball and cub-scouts.  i'll have to dedicate an entire post to baseball but in scouts, he earned his bobcat and is now working on getting some series of beads.  that probably sounds ignorant but i'm not a retired scout so, i don't know what they are.  all i know is i get an awesome pin for my jacket every time he gets a new badge.  i deserve it too.  because i end up spending a lot of time making him work on passing things off.  unfortunately, his dad had to work the night i got my pin he got his badge so, we don't have any photos.

yesterday he became steve irwin, the crocodile hunter, for the 2nd grade "live wax museum."  this project was fun to work on with him, let me tell you.  i wouldn't allow him to choose a professional athlete as his subject.  he was angry with me.  maybe it was unreasonable and controlling but i didn't care.  my argument was that there are hundreds, thousands of amazing people in history and current day who would be interesting to learn about.  people who have actually done something important.  athletes don't necessarily fit into this category with an exception to a small handful of people.  not for me anyway.  and neither does snoop dog (yes, he asked to be snoop dog.  i had to inform him that the man is a murderer.  no big deal).  why is snoop dog on nickelodeon all the time anyway these days?  seriously? it's upsetting to me.

while thrifting i saw this little boy trying on a fishing vest and the crocodile hunter called to me.  cayden loves animals.  he loves animal planet, animal books, animal games.  he loves to learn about animals so this was the perfect person for him and he was actually excited about it.  until it came time to actually get dressed up and leave for school but, that's another story for another day.

i found the awesome hiking boots in the women shoe section (shhhh, don't tell him) for $5.  he had to draw a picture of his person and include three facts on his poster.  then he had to memorize a 30 second speech which he did memorize but still read off of his card every time someone pushed his button.  rrrrr.

he looked really awesome.  even with his new, fashionable hair cut.

the haircut was not his fault.  josh n. did it.  he had no control over the situation.  he promises.

so let's not tell him i've put pictures of him on here.  okay?  what he doesn't know won't hurt him.   right?

What an amazing outfit, Mom. It looks like he was a huge success. Of course, I knew he would be.

I love that cayden, always keeping you on the tip of your toes and the edge if your seat. He's a smart nod for sure. He's really a great looking kid, at least when you catch him smiling! Maybe he'll be a structural engineer and build buildings! I wonder if there are any pre engineering workshops ir camps out there to really get him into the building structures and bridges. I've heard of stuff like that here. I'm also so glad you helped him pick a much better interesting person to be over snoop.
