rec center!
(view from the entrance. upstairs for the cardio room, weight room, spin room, aerobic room and running/walking track. the best part is the sign at the top of the stairs that says "adults only." heehee.)
we are so excited for the new rec center that opened out by our house. it's a beautiful building. i love new things! new treadmills!!!
it's been a few years since we've had a membership at a gym. gosh, i missed being able to workout with real equipment and going to real classes. i've already tried the yoga class and it was great. i'm looking forward to trying a few more classes this week.
(sitting/common area)
the kids love, love, love the indoor pool (no outdoor pool). as you might imagine, it has been packed every day. they offer swimming lessons, dive team, water aerobics. all the good stuff.
(pool "beach entrance")
( the track upstairs runs around the weight/cardio room and looks down onto the basketball courts on one side and the swimming pool on the other side)
(each corner of the track has a different set of workout equipment. one corner has all the necessities for boxing. it's pretty cool. this was taken on friday. check out the lovely weather we had. the window faces east so normally, you'd see the mountains from this spot. not on that day. i'm over this weather)
(i was trying to be discreet while taking a photo of the weight room. we'll call this a "walk by" shooting. check out his arms! the strength training area is actually a little small in my opinion. not that i'm complaining.)
(the treadmills are super cool. they have tv's on them!)
(there's this little corner down in the common area with a rock climbing wall for the kids and some weird spinning tire thing that makes noises.)
(there are several racquetball courts and a few ping-pong tables throughout the center)
the daycare is a bit shoddy but, i don't plan to use it much so i'm not worried about it. supposedly, it only holds 28 kids at a time. this means you need to reserve a spot for your kids like a day or two in advance. they have a "kid fit" for the older kids that they charge extra for and it seems cool but they only offer it on mondays and wednesdays at 9:00. the daycare is only open a few hours a day too (in the morning and in the evening). i think it's weird considering there are so many young families out here.
anyway, i personally still plan to keep my running dates with my running friends but i'm excited to add in a little more variety to my workout routine. even if it means getting up early for a 5:30 class.
